The Crown has an option whether to proceed summarily, or by indictment.  It is generally more serious if they proceed by indictment.  Having said that, if you are charged with assault with a weapon in Canada it really doesn’t matter whether it is summarily or by indictment – you are looking at a very serious criminal offence.  There is a strong chance that you are looking at a period of incarceration and possibly a long jail sentence.

Patrick Penny has been defending people against criminal charges for a long time.  He has the skills to make sure that your interests are protected throughout the proceedings.  Don’t just plead guilty and go to jail – get a lawyer!  Call Mr. Penny.
